Mike graduated from the University of California, Davis, with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1972, and from Fuller Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Theology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Counseling in 1977. He joined Christian Encounter Ministries in 1978 and is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. He served as the Director of Counseling until 1994 when he accepted the position as the Executive Director of Christian Encounter Ministries.

Robbin Adams

Robbin (Merriam) Adams graduated from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA in June of 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a Pre-Law Concentration. She came to CEM as an intern in September of 1980 serving part of her one-year internship in Grass Valley, CA and part at the Ozark Christian Encounter Ranch in Bunker, MO where she began the women's program. Robbin returned to CEM in Grass Valley in 1985 with her husband, Gene Adams, where she served as the Administrative Office Manager and Executive Secretary to Jim Parker while Gene joined the counseling staff headed by Mike Petrillo. In 1989 she left this position to be a full-time mother and home educator of their four daughters for 22 years. The Adams family served on staff with CEM for 18 years. In 2009 Robbin returned to CEM as the high school English teacher where she continues to serve. Since August of 2013 she returned to the Administrative Office sharing the receptionist/secretary position. In July of 2014 Robbin assumed additional duties as the editor of CEM's Expressions newsletter upon Marion Parker's retirement.

Mark graduated from Johnson Bible College in Knoxville, Tennessee, in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He came to CEM for a 3-month internship and went on to Lincoln Christian Seminary in LIncoln, IL, where he received his Master of Divinity in Pastoral Counseling in 1985. He worked as a Youth Minister at Central Christian Church in Savannah, GA, from 1985 to 1989. From 1989 to 1990 Mark took post-graduate clinical training in counseling from Emory University Affiliated Hospitals, and from 1997 to 2000 he took post-graduate counseling courses from State University of West Georgia. Mark worked at the New Directions Counseling Center in Union City, GA, from 1991 to 1995 and at Clayton Center in Riverdale, GA, from 1995 to 2008. He was an Adjunct Instructor at Atlanta Christian College from 1999 to 2008. Mark's heart has been united with Christian Encounter Ministries since his internship in 1980, and he returned to CEM in 2008 to serve as Minister of Discipleship and Assistant Intern Director. He took over as Intern Director in 2010 when Jim Parker retired. Mark is currently completing course work toward obtaining his Doctorate of Ministry (D.Min.) degree in Youth, Family, and Culture at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA.

Kayla Babson

Kayla Babson graduated from Queens University of Charlotte, North Carolina in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. During college, she worked closely with the youth at her home church and quickly developed a passion to see young people follow Jesus. After graduation, Kayla started a one-year internship at CEM in August 2010. She returned home to North Carolina for a short time before the Lord opened the door for a job with Mercy Ministries in Lincoln, CA. In June of 2012, Kayla joined the CEM staff as Work Program Coordinator in addition to her job at Mercy Ministries.

Nate Boyd
More Info
Nate graduated from Patrick Henry College in 2009 with a degree in Classical Liberal Arts and an emphasis in education. He spent 6 summers working at Wolf Mountain Christian Camp and Conference Center and Camp Del Oro, both in the Grass Valley, CA, area. Nate was a CEM intern in the spring of 2010, and worked for an outdoor education program with High Sierra Outdoor Institute in the fall of 2010. He joined the CEM staff in October of 2010 and is currently serving as Assistant Intern Director. He is pursuing an MA in Biblical and Theological Studies through Western Seminary.

Charlie Cazin
More Info
Charlie attended Fullerton College and worked in college ministry before coming to CEM in 2001 to serve a 2-year internship. He then pursued a career in the banking industry and worked for and managed a local bank before hearing God's call to move back into ministry. Charlie joined CEM as the Church Relations/Donor Services Coordinator in 2014.

Jessica Colvin

Jessica worked as a leader of camp retreats at Discovery Ministries near Emminence, MO, prior to 2000. She came to CEM to serve a 2-year internship in 2000 and was CEM's Women's Ministry House leader from 2003 to 2006. She began working as the Food Service Director for CEM in 2005, and has continued in that position to the present. Jessica is a certified Food Safety Manager. In addition to her Food Service responsibilities, she also helps lead the CEM wilderness trips, and is Wilderness First Responder certified.

John graduated from Humboldt State University, Arcata, CA, in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and his Master of Arts in Psychology and Counseling in 1991. He was a building contractor and also worked as a counselor at the Humboldt County Juvenile Hall from 1985 to 1996. He came to CEM in 1996, where he received supervision toward state licensure. He received his Marriage and Family Therapy license in 2003. John has been the Director of Counseling at CEM since 2003.

Caryn graduated from Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL, with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education in 1981. She worked as a summer wilderness leader at Honey Rock Camp from 1979 to 1981, and came to CEM in 1982 to work in the wilderness camping program, Discovery Expeditions; she was the director of that program from 1985 to 1994. She taught in Christian Encounter High School from 1994 to 1995, and continues to teach P.E. to the present time. Caryn has been the Office Manager since 1996 and also continues to help lead CEM wilderness trips. She is a certified Red Cross Lifeguard.

Suzanne Hartley
More Info
Suzanne graduated from Humboldt State University in Arcata, California, with a Bachelor of Arts in Recreation in 1990. She worked as a wilderness leader at Honey Rock Camp in Wisconsin from 1990 to 1994. Suzanne came to CEM in 1994 for a 2-year internship, then transitioned to the school, where she teaches government, economics, math, and health. She also runs the CEM wilderness program and assists the students with their medical needs. Suzanne is ACSI teacher certified, Wilderness First Responder certified, and Red Cross Lifeguard certified.

Randy Hearn

Randy graduated from Heald Business College in 1965 and had a small accounting practice for approximately ten years. He also worked in the truck leasing industry for twenty years, retiring as the Northern California Zone Manager for Avis in 1982. He built a house in Grass Valley and bought and sold real estate. He was a CEM board member from 2003 to 2008. When a need arose in the CEM Business Office, Randy answered the call, first as a volunteer, next as a consultant, then joining the staff full time in 2009.

Susan graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Ministries in 1986 and began working as a counselor in 1985. She was Adjunct Faculty--teaching Marriage and Family courses in the School of Psychology--and Supervisor of MFCC Interns at Azusa Pacific College and Fuller Theological Seminary from 1992 to 2003. She came to CEM to serve as a counselor in 2003. Susan is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

Tom graduated from the University of Illinois in 1972 with a Bachelor of Social Welfare. He attended Lincoln Christian Seminary from 1972 to 1975, and took graduate counseling classes at Azusa Pacific University in 1981. Tom worked as a Youth Minister in Danville, IL, from 1972 to 1975, and as a missionary teacher in Liberia, West Africa, from 1975 to 1976. He taught for one year at an alternative High School in Springfield, IL. Tom came to CEM to serve as an intern in 1978, and faculty trainee in 1979. He married intern Jan Myers here at CEM in 1980; Tom and Jan were on staff at the Missouri Christian Encounter Ranch until the end of 1980. They returned to the California Ranch in 1982, and Tom has been the Christian Encounter High School principal since then.

Zoya graduated from the University of California at Davis in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Architecture. She has participated in short-term mission trips to Taiwan and Kenya. Just before arriving at CEM in 2010 to begin her internship, she was appointed as a member of African Inland Mission and planned to leave for the field in 2012. God had other plans. In 2012, Zoya completed her two-year internship and remained at CEM serving in various capacities. In 2013. she joined the CEM staff as the Admissions Receptionist/Secretary.

More Info
Sharon graduated from Colorado Christian University, Lakewood, CO, in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. She is also a 2008 graduate of The School of Leadership Development, Yuba City, CA. Sharon has spent time doing missionary work in Mexico, Cambodia, Fiji, China, Vietnam, and the island nation of Vanuatu. She came to CEM to serve a nine-month internship in 2010 and began working as the Women’s Ministry House Leader in early 2011. Sharon now serves as CEM's Accountant, a position she has held since February 2012.

Jim Parker
More Info
Jim graduated from San Jose Bible College with a Bachelor of Religious Education in 1965. He was Associate Pastor at Ceres Christian Church from 1965 to 1967 and the Senior Pastor at Valley Christian Church in Livermore, CA, from 1968-1976, at which time he also directed Encounter House, a residence for young adults. In 1976 he joined Christian Encounter Ministries, becoming the Executive Director in 1979, a position he held until 1994. At that time he transitioned to the position of Minister of Discipleship and Pastoral Care and Outreach at Christian Encounter Ministries. Jim retired from full-time service in November, 2010. He now works part time.

More Info
Marion attended San Jose Bible College from 1956 to 1959. She came to CEM with her husband, Jim, in 1976, and worked as a volunteer for many years. She has been the Expressions Newsletter editor since 1979, and served as Food Service Director from 1995 to 2005. Currently she is CEM's Donor Services Coordinator.
