Strategically located in the "Gold Country"
of the foothills in the beautiful Sierra
Nevada Mountains, Christian Encounter
Ministries (CEM) provides an ideal setting
for intellectual, spiritual, and personal
growth. The Ranch is situated on 82
peaceful acres of lush, grassy meadows and
tree-covered hills with groomed trails for
hiking and four ponds for recreational
activities like fishing, swimming, and
canoeing.
The main building houses
a large commercial kitchen and dining area;
a living room for meetings, Sunday services,
relaxation, and free time; and most of the
staff offices. Nearby is our
recently-remodeled High School, featuring
two classrooms and a fully updated computer
lab.
CEM has four separate dormitories, two for
males and two for females. Each dorm houses
a maximum of eight individuals, including
leaders, split between two simple rooms for
the purposes of sleeping, cleaning up, and
dressing. Most of the staff homes are
situated around the property, adding a
family-like atmosphere and feeling of safety
and support.
Our 82 acres provide many opportunities for
relaxation and recreation. In addition
to the
 ponds, we have two areas
for
soccer, volleyball, frisbee, and other
outdoor activities. Angels' Meadow features a campfire ring,
lighted stage with seating, restrooms, and
twelve rustic cabins. Our maintenance barn
is situated on the opposite side of the
property. Not only used for work-related
activities, it houses an indoor recreation
room, weight room, and basketball/volleyball
area.
It is common to see
a variety of wildlife on the property in addition to the
livestock tended by students and interns.
An array of birds, water fowl, deer,
raccoons, foxes and other wildlife
call CEM home and add to its beauty and
tranquility . The Ranch is less than ten
miles from the quaint town of Grass Valley,
but is far enough removed to provide a safe
place conducive to spiritual,
intellectual, and personal growth
