The CEM counseling department came into existence in the late 70’s when it was recognized that many resident students were in need of professional emotional help in addition to traditional discipleship.
In all of our departments CEM recognizes the need to address the whole individual, emotional as well as physical and spiritual.
Counselors at CEM practice a Christ-based orientation in which a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is seen as a critical ingredient for emotional healing. They help students come to grips with areas in their lives which are emotionally painful or out of control as a result of their own mistakes or the mistakes of others which have damaged them.
All CEM students have a regular weekly meeting with their counselor. The family atmosphere at the ranch also offers many therapeutic experiences with other students, interns and staff.
CEM has a highly experienced counseling staff with many years of experience working with adolescents and their families. All CEM counselors are registered with the State of California and are in good standing.
