“You live out the gospel here. I’m learning what God’s love looks like and the two words that keep coming up are unconditional and sacrificial.” - Alec, intern

Complete this form: www.christianencounter.org/volunteer-opportunities.html In April, Food Service Manager Kathleen McNama will be finishing two years of excellent service at Christian Encounter. According to Kat, the job combined “making people happy with food” alongside teaching and training the residents, making it an “ideal position for my gifting.” “An unexpected blessing was being able to work so closely with people...I always want to be a part of the Ranch. It just becomes a part of you.” A natural networker, Kat invited many in the community to join in the work happening at Christian Encounter. As Kat joins her husband Glenn in retirement, she plans to remain active volunteering locally. Position open in AprilResponsibilities Managing commercial kitchen, catering events (10-125 people), menu planning within a budget, purchasing food/supplies, teaching cooking skills and nutrition. Personal Qualifications Commitment to Christ, desire and willingness to work with struggling young people, flexibility to work in a variety of settings, possession of Food Service Manager’s certificate (or willingness to acquire it). Experience in leadership, cooking for large numbers and training in nutritional principles are desired. If you know anyone with a background in Food Service and a heart for at-risk youth,
please help spread the word. For more information, contact Nate Boyd at 530-268-0877 or nate@christianencounter.org When we think about the 50th Anniversary Celebration, we think of hundreds of people gathered from many states. We think of embracing those we haven’t seen in years, of worshipping our God as one giant Ranch family. We think of lingering over the meal table and lots of Ultimate Frisbee on our newly seeded athletic field. As you can see, our vision is entirely incompatible with a pandemic. For a while, trends were pointing in a good direction, and we were cautiously optimistic. But as case counts have climbed and restrictions have tightened again, we’ve decided now is the time to reschedule, before any more flights are booked or plans are made. The Ranch was founded in September of 1970, so we’re postponing this celebration from the beginning of our 50th year to the end of it. The new dates are September 24-26, 2021. Please help us get the word out. We continue to rejoice in all that God is doing in the young lives at CER and that His work is not crippled or thwarted in the slightest degree by a worldwide contagion. There will be much to celebrate next fall. In the meantime, let’s keep running the race together. |
